Monument signage: An essential tool for heritage enhancement

Whatever the building concerned, the signage of a monument plays a key role in its reputation and public appeal. The tools used meet a variety of needs: informing visitors about historical aspects, for example, guiding them along their journey, and highlighting the monument through careful design and integration.

Polymobyl offers its services to meet all these requirements.

Customized heritage signage

Polymobyl has worked with numerous local authorities to design fully customized heritage signage, particularly for historic monuments. Our work is guided by respect for the building’s architecture and the constraints imposed by Bâtiments de France. The choice of materials, the appearance and dimensions of supports, and their layout are all essential for harmonious integration.

The aim of successful heritage signage is therefore to orientate the public and discreetly highlight the site. To this end, we work with our partners in local authorities to design signage that is both directional and informative, while integrating perfectly with the environment or the brand image of the site.

Polymobyl, your signage agency

When you call on our signage agency, Polymobyl systematically carries out an on-site audit, in order to respond precisely to the project’s challenges and specific constraints. Following this, our design office will provide you with costed recommendations, on the basis of which we can discuss possible options with you.

Once you’ve approved our proposal, the baton is passed to our multidisciplinary team of project managers, designers, graphic artists and illustrators. These professionals carry out a complete study for the creation of your building’s signage: graphic charter, iconography, design of the various media, choice of materials and printing techniques, panel illustrations, layout…

Finally, once the signage has been manufactured, we take charge of installing it on site, ensuring that it is firmly in place and blends in harmoniously.

Our heritage signage projects

Polymobyl has already signed numerous projects for tourist signage, whether for historic monuments or a city’s architectural and cultural heritage. In particular, we created the signage:

  • of the Rochefort Arsenal;
  • Saint-Lazare Cathedral in Autun ;
  • Sentier des Impressionnistes, in Montigny-les-Cormeilles, Val d’Oise;
  • the heritage of the city of Orléans (as part of its “Ville d’art et d’histoire” label);
  • from the commune of Vierzon, on a 10 km tourist trail focusing on Impressionism;
  • the Grand Théâtre in Rabat, Morocco (in collaboration with architect Zaha Hadid).
